If you enjoy visiting the local bars like Atlas Pizza & Sports Bar, you might also like to sit inside and have yourself a slice of bar-style pizza. The pizza slices served at bars usually have a very crisp and thin crust that is smothered with sauce, cheese, and basic toppings. If you can't always get to the bar for your favorite slice of pizza, you can follow the recipe below to make your own at home for an indoor pizza night.

Preparing Your Pizza Dough

If you want a truly crispy pizza, you'll want to prepare the dough at home instead of buying it pre-packaged. These are the ingredients needed:

  • 3 ½ cups flour

  • 1 tablespoon yeast

  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

  • 1 ½ teaspoons white sugar

  • 1 ¾ cups warm water

  • 1 ½ tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Pour your water into a bowl and throw the yeast into it, allowing it to dissolve.

  2. Grab the bowl with the water and the yeast and pour it into a standing kitchen mixer.

  3. Add your flour and salt l into the kitchen mixer with the yeast and water. Add the sugar and olive oil right after.

  4. Put your kitchen mixer on the lowest setting and begin kneading the dough using a dough hook. Continue kneading for about three minutes or until all ingredients are joined together and are no longer sticking to the side of the mixer.

  5. Grab the dough from the mixer, set it inside of a bowl, and place a kitchen towel on top of it. Leave the dough for about an hour to give it time to rise.

Once the dough has risen, you can begin flattening it out with a rolling-pin. You'll want to roll the pin up and down and side to side until you've achieved the flatness you want. You'll want to add an additional 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a round pan and then place the dough inside of it.

Making Your Own Pizza Sauce

Most bars will make their own, so why use jarred pizza sauce when you can make it at home with fresh ingredients? These are the ingredients to have when preparing the sauce:

  • 10 vine ripe tomatoes

  • 2 cups finely chopped onion

  • 1 cup minced garlic

  • 1 cup tomato paste

  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar

  • 1 tablespoon oregano

  • 1 ½ tablespoons pepper

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Place your tomatoes on a cutting board. Slice them down in half and use a large wooden spoon to flatten them down.

  2. Grab a saucepan, place it on the stove, and fill it with the two tablespoons of olive oil. Put the heat setting on low and wait for the oil to get hot.

  3. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion pieces inside of the saucepan with the heated olive oil. Continue to simmer the garlic and onions for about 10 minutes.

  4. Place a large pot on the stove. Pour the cup of tomato paste inside the pot and set the stove on medium-high.

  5. Add the simmered garlic and onions and then the mashed tomatoes into the pot with the tomato paste.

  6. Sprinkle the sugar, salt, oregano, and pepper into the pot with the rest of the ingredients and continue cooking on medium-high heat until the ingredients begin to boil.

  7. Put the heat on the lowest setting once the ingredients begin boil. Continue cooking on low for 30 minutes, mixing it with a spoon every 5-10 minutes. After the 30 minutes have passed, your pizza sauce is ready to go.

Completing the Pizza

Finishing the bar-style pizza is the easiest and most fun part of the recipe. These are some of the final ingredients you'll want to have:

  • Sliced pepperoni

  • 16 oz package mozzarella cheese

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Use a large spoon spread 2 tablespoons of olive oil on the pizza dough.

  2. Use that same spoon to pour your pizza sauce over the dough you've made. Spread it around evenly and add as much sauce as you want.

  3. Open the bag of mozzarella cheese, pour it over the pizza sauce and dough, and spread it all around using your fingers.

  4. Place sliced pepperoni over the mozzarella cheese, adding as many slices as you'd like.

  5. Set your oven to 500 degrees F and place the pan with the pizza inside of the oven.

  6. Cook your pizza for about 30 minutes or until the crust turns crispy and golden. Remove it from the oven, slice it, and serve it nice and hot.
